projectLUCE = light + art
light (noun) Something that makes things visible or affords illumination.
art (noun) The quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.
There’s a symbiotic relationship between design and utility of the objects that we use in our everyday life; forms and function have an harmonious relationship, each contributing and elevating the other.
When it comes to lighting products, too often the utilitarian factor overshadows(*) the aesthetic of the fixture itself. Designers like Achille Castiglioni and Louis Poulsen have demonstrated that with good design, creativity and ingenuity it is indeed possible to design elegant fixtures that with their simple lines make an aesthetic statement in harmony with their surrounding; art sculptures during the day, sculpting with light during the night, while always enhancing their spaces.
It is projectLUCE’s strong belief that thanks to present day technologies like solid state lighting sources (LED, OLED, OLET), new materials, and innovative processes; using the same principles of well thought out design, creativity and ingenuity, now more than ever it is possible to create iconic fixtures that make new statements of what is possible in terms of design, performance, use and sustainability.
The fixture per se is as important as the light it produces. Just like yin and yang, projectLUCE strives for balance between light + art.
(*) Pun intended.
